Karu LGA Nasarawa State Call for Volunteers: Join Initiative for Green and Waste-Free Societies (IGWAS)!

Are you passionate about environmental sustainability, waste management, and empowering communities? Initiative for Green and Waste-Free Societies (IGWAS), a female-led non-profit organization, is calling for dedicated volunteers to help us make a positive impact in rural and urban communities across Nigeria. Our mission is to promote environmental conservation, climate resilience, and social inclusion through innovative waste management and sustainable development initiatives.

We are seeking volunteers in the following areas:

1. Social Media Manager

  • Responsibilities: Develop and manage IGWAS’s social media strategy, create and schedule posts, engage with followers, monitor analytics, and raise awareness about our projects and events.
  • Skills Needed: Social media expertise (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn), graphic design, content creation, and excellent communication skills.

2. Community Engagement Volunteer

  • Responsibilities: Liaise with local communities, organize workshops, assist with training programs, and help build strong relationships with community members.
  • Skills Needed: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, experience in grassroots mobilization, and community outreach.

3. Environmental Education Facilitator

  • Responsibilities: Deliver educational programs on waste management, climate change, and sustainability to schools, youth groups, and local communities.
  • Skills Needed: Teaching experience or public speaking skills, environmental knowledge, and the ability to engage with diverse audiences.

4. Fundraising & Grant Writing Volunteer

  • Responsibilities: Assist in identifying potential funding opportunities, drafting grant applications, and organizing fundraising events.
  • Skills Needed: Strong writing and research skills, previous fundraising experience, and knowledge of non-profit financing.

5. Content Writer/Blogger

  • Responsibilities: Write articles, blogs, and success stories about IGWAS projects and environmental issues, contributing to our website and newsletters.
  • Skills Needed: Writing and storytelling abilities, research skills, and passion for environmental topics.

6. Graphic Designer

  • Responsibilities: Design flyers, brochures, banners, and social media graphics to support our campaigns and raise awareness about environmental conservation.
  • Skills Needed: Proficiency in graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.), creativity, and attention to detail.

7. Project Support Volunteers (Waste Management & Recycling)

  • Responsibilities: Assist in organizing waste collection drives, recycling initiatives, and eco-friendly activities in collaboration with schools, communities, and local governments.
  • Skills Needed: Passion for environmental work, event organization, and hands-on involvement in waste management activities.

8. Monitoring & Evaluation Volunteer

  • Responsibilities: Track and assess the progress of IGWAS’s programs, collect and analyze data, and report on the impact of our initiatives.
  • Skills Needed: Analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience with data collection and reporting tools.

9. IT & Website Management Volunteer

  • Responsibilities: Maintain and update IGWAS’s website, ensure functionality, troubleshoot issues, and improve user experience.
  • Skills Needed: Web development knowledge (WordPress, HTML, CSS), SEO, and experience with website maintenance.

10. Logistics & Event Planning Volunteer

  • Responsibilities: Help plan and coordinate IGWAS events, workshops, and campaigns, ensuring smooth operations and effective resource management.
  • Skills Needed: Strong organizational and planning skills, attention to detail, and experience with event coordination.

11. Partnership & Advocacy Volunteer

  • Responsibilities: Identify potential partners, establish relationships with other NGOs, corporate bodies, and government agencies, and advocate for policy changes supporting sustainability and waste reduction.
  • Skills Needed: Networking skills, knowledge of advocacy strategies, and partnership building experience.
